Alright, let's get back on this blogging spree shall we? Okay, I was never really on a blogging spree but, in spite of that I never want to post something that is useless. So, on to with our topic of this blog; my hair routine.
When I was little, I'm not gonna lie I pretty much had Pantene Pro V hair, alright? It was long, thick, I shed a lot but still I had a lot of hair. Whenever I put my hair in a pony tail, it would be thick. Then sadly I did something stupid... multiple times, unaware of what it was doing to my amazing hair!
I started to dye it brown, purple, red, bleached it! Oh my goodness, why did I have to do that? Now, in present time my hair is still very long cause I haven't cut it in about a year (yes, I will be getting a trim soon 'cause of all the dead ends). My hair now is limp and lifeless. The fact that I wash my hair more often (every other day) than I did when I was a kid (age 8-13) which was 3 times a week, I believe. After years of trying to manipulate my hair to curl or have volume it failed every time or there would be one or two times when it worked but, it would take me hours to do. I've read and heard that the less often you wash your hair the healthier it'll be. Of course you gotta do it gradually. If you wash your hair everyday start with washing it every other day. Or if you're someone like me who washes the hair every other day, we gotta wash it every 2 days. I'm not sure how long we do that for, a month then we move onto every 3 days. Slowly, your scalp will become soft and your hair will not create much oil. The more you wash it, the more your hair and scalp will dry, that will create the body to produce more oils for the scalp which will make your hair oily, quickly.
Now that I have pin straight hair that goes oily within a day... sucks! I've tried gradually skipping days of washing but, I couldn't stand my hair being greasy, especially in public! But, that was when I picked up some dry shampoo. I've read and watched reviews on dry shampoo and I thought it'd be perfect for me because on my second day hair it's already oily and I don't want to wash it and make it worse. The one I use is by Tresemme. You just spray it on and brush it out or use a towel. I tried brushing it out but, it didn't work. This product works, the powder just soaks up all the oil and makes your hair look clean. The only thing I don't like about it is how it makes my hair feel. I am the person who can't stand having the feel of something disgusting in my hair. I've tried clay, wax, hairspray, gel, and powder. Of course I can't get a product that doesn't have that effect, I just want something that doesn't make my hair dirty quicker. All the above I just listed does. I really thought the powder would volumize my hair without weighing it down or making it feel icky, but, it did. So, I guess the only cure is to tone down my hair washing just a tad and slowly go down from there.
I hope this was helpful for those who are in the same boat as me. We can get thick hair again! For those who already have awesome thick non-greasy hair, us oily girls envy you, haha!
